Jimmy Lifton is a self-motivated man who found success as a recording artist, producer, talent agent, literary agent, and film developer. He owned and contributed to a recording studio, a record label, and a film company at different points in his career. He created two family films for HBO, produced several music groups, had his own successful recording that did well on the Billboard charts, and produced a critically acclaimed film, “Mirror, Mirror.” He produced 16 feature films, holding all marketing, distribution, and production responsibilities for each one. Lifton has been nominated for 15 Golden Reel Awards and has won 5. He has been nominated for 5 Emmys and has won 2 for Outstanding Sound Editing – Live Action and Animation for The Penguins of Madagascar (2008) and Outstanding Sound Editing – Animation for Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness (2011).
Lifton is also devoted to helping other people succeed in the media industry. The Lifton Institute was formed in 2009/2010 to train out-of-work skilled labor and transform those skills to work within the Movie and TV industry. Jimmy Lifton self financed this venture, acquiring all production and training equipment as well as overseeing the construction of the facility and stages. The Michigan State licensed trade school trained over 200 students and had a job placement rate approaching 70%.
Jimmy Lifton opened the Los Angeles Lifton Institute of Media Arts and Sciences in 2013, gathering some of the top media instructors in Hollywood to teach aspiring talent in a real world environment. The studio lot is located on 4 acres including six film sound stages and a post production building. He continues to contribute to the media industry, both with his own talent and by sharing his resources in order to mold and shape new talent for success in the competitive media industry.
